Charlie"(Sniff…sniff)….Hmmm….smells like it’s your first time here.  Well, hi there everypawdy!  I’m Charlie….the Big Dog here at Doggone Clean and I bet you could use a few tips on what to expect. First off, I wanna let you know something very important- my Mom’s gonna take good care of you…I pawmise.

Before you get here make sure you take care of business…know what I’m barking about?  And remember the dress code- collar and leash. Oh and don’t forget to bring your vaccination record too.

So, what’s next?  When you get here, my mom'll be waiting to greet you (not the traditional dog way, but what do you expect?!)  She’s always happy to be surrounded by fuzzy, fury friends.  She’ll first spend some time getting to know you. I should tell you…she’s the best belly rubber around! She likes to make dogs happy…that’s what she does best!  Since she only takes appointments, you’ll be the only dog in her shop.  But if you get scared, don’t worry.  I can come keep you company.  I should also tell you that Mom has an assistant, my Paw, Dannie.  You’ll love him as much as I do!

So, you’re getting the Woofa Palooza, huh?  You are Doggone lucky!  Mom’s gonna give you the best spa treatment you’ve ever had.  So relax and enjoy yourself.  And remember, a Doggone Clean Dog is a Happy Dog!  I’ll bark at ya later!"

Charlie

TIP OF THE MONTH

Dogs on Jogs
Want to run with the pooches? Here's what you should know.

  • Take your dog to the vet for a checkup to be sure they are healthy enough to jog.
  • Start slowly and build your dog's stamina with regular walks.
  • As your dog becomes more fit you can increase the pace and the distance.
  • Jog on unpaved surfaces when possible. Concrete and asphalt can cause cuts and abrasions to your dogs paw pads.
  • To minimize the risk of bloat, a life-threatening condition, don't let your dog engage in strenuous exercise after eating a meal or drinking a lot of water.
  • Adjust your workout routine based on the weather and watch for signs that your dog is becoming overheated. Paved surfaces get hot in warm weather. In winter ice removing salt and chemicals can hurt your dog's paws.
  • After a run, check your dog's feet for injuries to the paw pads and toenails. Watch for lameness and soreness the next day. Take them to the vet if you see any signs of illness or injury.
